On September 24th, participants in the Hope 21 project for children affected by the Fukushima disaster visited the OTEC Demonstration Facility to see one of the ways Japan is working on new sources of power that do not rely on Nuclear technology. Every month children from Fukushima are invited to Kume Island by the NPO to live and play outside without fear of radiation or other concerns. While on the Island they get to see much of the island life. This time, students came and learned a bit about how we create power from the ocean.  You can see more about their trip in Japanese at the links above.
